A free core workspace, with Pro for advanced workflows.
RayCrest MDS is being packaged as a single Mac app with a generous free tier for daily bench work and RayCrest Pro for automation, deeper analysis, and polished outputs. Until launch, approved users can request free beta access for active bench workflows.
AT LAUNCH
How access to MDS will work
We are keeping the core workspace genuinely useful in the free tier. RayCrest Pro is for the parts of the workflow that save time, add deeper interpretation, or produce polished outputs you want to share.
Free
RayCrest Free
For everyday molecular biology work on the bench.
Open, create, and edit DNA and plasmid sequences
Circular and linear maps, annotations, translation, ORF view, and basic restriction inspection
Manual primer design and primer library basics
Sequencing viewer with mismatch finding, mismatch navigation, and chromatogram inspection
Protein sequence viewer and basic protein stats
Lab calculators and bundled auto-annotation suggestions
Pro
RayCrest Pro (coming soon)
For automation, advanced analysis, and polished outputs.
Verification reports and premium QC exports
Primer Wizard, qPCR design, and advanced primer scoring
General alignments beyond sequencing review
Codon optimization, reverse translate, codon metrics, and mutagenesis workflows
Advanced protein workflows such as structures, residue mapping, and variant review
Cloning automation and guided design workflows

FREE VS PRO
Feature breakdown
Free
Sequence workspace
Plasmid viewing and editing, annotations, translation, ORF review, and basic restriction inspection.
Free
Sequencing review
Read-to-reference inspection, automatic mismatch finding, mismatch navigation, and chromatogram review.
Free
Protein basics
Protein sequence viewing, numbering, search, and basic stats.
Free
Utilities
Lab calculators, bundled auto-annotation suggestions, and ordinary import/export for core sequence work.
Pro
Design acceleration
Primer Wizard, qPCR design, advanced primer scoring, and guided cloning automation.
Pro
Advanced analysis
General alignments beyond sequencing review, codon workflows, and advanced protein analysis.
Pro
Outputs
Verification reports, premium QC outputs, and other polished exports tied to advanced workflows.
Guiding principle: Core bench work stays free. Pro is reserved for automation, deeper interpretation, and shareable outputs.
WHAT STAYS FREE
The free tier is meant to be a real daily-use workspace
We are intentionally keeping the baseline scientific workflow outside the paywall. That includes editing plasmids, reviewing sequencing evidence, finding mismatches, checking chromatograms, working with protein sequences, and using lab calculators. The goal is for MDS Free to be useful on its own, not a crippled demo.
BETA
How beta access works
Beta access is free for approved users while we prepare the Mac App Store launch.
Request
Tell us your use case, workflow focus, and how you plan to use MDS.
Confirm
We typically respond within a few business days. If the next beta build is about to ship, there may be a short delay before install details go out.
Install
Receive install instructions for the current macOS beta build on macOS 13 or newer.
Iterate
You get updates as they ship, a direct line to the team, and real influence over what gets built next.
LEGAL
End User License & Legal Information
At launch, MDS will use Apple’s Standard EULA. During beta, the app is provided free for evaluation with no formal license agreement.
The MDS app is local-first and does not upload your sequences. If you submit the beta request form, we collect contact details (name, email, and optional fields) only to respond about beta access; we do not sell this information.
