Solution preparation

Molarity Calculator — Solve Mass, Concentration, or Volume

Enter molecular weight and three solution variables. Auto mode solves the one missing value; explicit modes deliberately ignore stale text in the selected output field.

Calculations run locally in your browser. Values are only placed in a URL when you choose “Copy Shareable Link.”

Solution inputs

Worked example

For NaCl at 58.44 g/mol, a 100 mM solution with a final volume of 100 mL requires 0.5844 g, or 584.4 mg.

How to use

  1. Choose Auto and leave exactly one solution field empty, or select the variable explicitly.
  2. Enter molecular weight and the remaining positive inputs.
  3. Choose the output unit, calculate, then copy the full audit-friendly summary.

Validation and limitations

The calculator rejects missing inputs, non-positive molecular weight, negative or zero required values, division by zero, and non-finite results. Confirm reagent identity, purity, hydrate state, and significant figures independently.
