Keyboard shortcuts

Use this page when you want faster access to common actions in raycrestMDS without working through the menu bar each time.

General shortcuts

  • Cmd+O: import a DNA sequence
  • Cmd+S: export the current construct in GenBank format
  • Cmd+Shift+S: export the current sequence as FASTA
  • Cmd+F: open find in the active context
  • Cmd+G: find next result
  • Cmd+Shift+G: find the previous result

Workspace and utility shortcuts

  • Cmd+Shift+I: open primer library
  • Cmd+Shift+B: open Plasmid Board
  • Cmd+Opt+M: open lab calculators
  • Cmd+D: duplicate the current plasmid
  • Cmd+Delete: archive the current plasmid

Selection and editing shortcuts

  • Cmd+A: select all
  • Esc: clear the current selection
  • Cmd+Shift+J: reveal the current selection
  • Delete: delete the selected bases
  • Cmd+Opt+C: copy protein from the current selection
  • Cmd+Shift+C: open the copy panel
  • Cmd+Opt+Shift+R: reverse complement the current selection

Sequence navigation shortcuts

  • Arrow keys: move the caret
  • Shift plus arrow keys: extend the selection
  • Option plus arrow keys: move by codon
  • Cmd+Left or Cmd+Right: jump to the start or end of the row
  • A, C, G, T, U, N: insert or replace bases in sequence context

Notes

  • Some shortcuts are context-sensitive and will act on the focused text field instead of the main canvas when text input is active.
  • Some task buttons, such as Primer Wizard, History, or Run Alignment, do not have a default shortcut in the current app.
