Supported file formats
Use this page to check which sequence, sequencing, alignment, and export formats raycrestMDS supports today.
At a glance
- DNA sequence import: GenBank, FASTA, SnapGene
.dna - Sequencing import: Sanger traces and FASTQ
- DNA sequence export: GenBank and FASTA
- Alignment export: FASTA, CLUSTAL, image snapshots, and tree exports
DNA sequence files
| Use | Formats |
|---|---|
| Import DNA sequence | .gb, .gbk, .gbff, .genbank, .fa, .fasta, .fna, .dna |
| Export DNA sequence | GenBank and FASTA |
Notes
- SnapGene
.dnais import-only. - Sequence import creates a new plasmid record in the current workspace.
Sequencing files
| Use | Formats |
|---|---|
| Sanger import | .ab1, .abi |
| FASTQ import | .fastq, .fq, .fastq.gz |
Notes
- Import one sequencing modality per batch.
- Sanger and FASTQ files cannot be mixed in the same import selection.
Multiple sequence alignment files
Accepted MSA import formats:
.json,.txt.fasta,.fa,.fas,.faa,.fna.aln,.clustal.sto,.stockholm.phy,.phylip.nex,.nexus.msf,.pir
MSA export outputs:
- alignment export:
FASTA,CLUSTAL,PNG Snapshot - tree export:
Newick,SVG,PNG
Plasmid package files
| Use | Format |
|---|---|
| Import plasmid package | .mbcplasmid |
| Export plasmid package | .mbcplasmid |
Notes
- Importing a plasmid package creates a new plasmid ID in the destination workspace.
Project-managed files
raycrestMDS can keep additional project files inside the workspace, including:
- image files
- generic data files
Key limits
- Native Geneious files are not imported directly.
- Protein sequence files are not part of the normal DNA sequence import flow.
- SnapGene export is not currently available.
