Troubleshooting
Use this page when something in raycrestMDS is blocked and you need the fastest next check.
Start with the symptom
- A DNA file says it is unsupported
- A native Geneious file will not import
- Sequencing import says to choose Sanger or FASTQ, not both
- Export commands are disabled
- Gibson preview is empty or overlap QC fails
- Alignment PNG export fails or the viewer is not ready
A DNA file says it is unsupported
Why this happens - The file extension is outside the supported DNA import set, or the file is not nucleotide sequence data.
Try this now
1. Check the extension against Supported file formats.
2. If the file came from another tool, re-export it as GenBank or FASTA.
3. Try the import again from File > Import Sequence....
Next decision - If the file is supported and still fails, go to Support.
A native Geneious file will not import
Why this happens - Native Geneious import is not part of the current DNA import flow.
Try this now 1. Open the file in Geneious. 2. Export it as GenBank or FASTA. 3. Import the exported file into raycrestMDS.
Next decision - If a GenBank or FASTA export from the same record still fails, go to Support.
Sequencing import says to choose Sanger or FASTQ, not both
Why this happens
- You selected .ab1 or .abi files together with FASTQ files in one import batch.
Try this now 1. Cancel the import. 2. Separate the files by modality. 3. Import Sanger and FASTQ data in separate batches.
Next decision - If you are importing only one modality and still see the same message, go to Support.
Export commands are disabled
Why this happens - The active plasmid or sequence is not selected in the current workspace.
Try this now
1. Re-select the plasmid in the left sidebar.
2. Switch back to Sequence or Circular Map view if needed.
3. Open the export menu again.
Next decision - If the correct plasmid is active and export is still unavailable, go to Support.
Gibson preview is empty or overlap QC fails
Why this happens - The simulation has not been run yet, or the staged overlaps do not meet the current QC thresholds.
Try this now
1. Run Simulate before trying to create the plasmid.
2. Review the overlap warnings and adjust the staged inserts or overlap settings.
3. Re-run the simulation after each change.
Next decision - If the preview stays empty after a successful simulation run, review Gibson cloning or go to Support.
Alignment PNG export fails or the viewer is not ready
Why this happens - The alignment view has not finished rendering when the export is requested.
Try this now 1. Wait for the alignment viewer to finish loading. 2. Try the PNG export again. 3. Reduce the active sequence set if the view is very large.
Next decision - If export keeps failing after the alignment view is fully loaded, go to Support.
